Built from a recurring gap between data and decision-making.
Why WasteCred exists
WasteCred was founded by Richard Smyth, Managing Director, following 16 years working in the financial sector, including running audits nationwide for a nationally and internationally recognised accountancy firm.
During that time, Richard saw first-hand how organisations increasingly relied on operational data to support management decisions, reporting and assurance — but waste data was often treated differently. Businesses could collect invoices, transfer notes and movement data, yet still struggle to understand what that information actually said about cost, compliance readiness, environmental performance and opportunities for improvement.
WasteCred was developed to address that gap.
Rather than acting as another waste-management system, WasteCred sits above operational waste activity as an intelligence layer. It brings together waste data, tests what the available evidence can genuinely support, identifies weaknesses and exceptions, and turns those findings into practical management actions.
The platform is built around a simple closed-loop methodology: Collect → Verify → Analyse → Improve.
Data is first captured and structured, then qualified against the available evidence. WasteCred analyses regulatory, commercial and carbon information, identifies corrective actions, measures outcomes and recalculates the intelligence as performance improves.
This evidence-first approach is central to WasteCred. Missing or insufficient evidence is not presented as certainty, and management reporting is designed to show both the result and the confidence behind it.
The result is a platform intended to help organisations make better commercial waste decisions using data they can understand, challenge and act upon.
